We Need Reagan or Clinton NOW!

Say what you want but those two gentlemen, as different as they were, could get us all feeling pretty good about being Americans. They could get us to believe. They could convince us that things were getting better and that they cared and wanted us all to commit to working together to get it done. They had very different ways of doing it but they were both successful. Our current leader...

Only 25 percent of those surveyed say things in the U.S. are going in the right direction, according to an AP-Ipsos poll this month.

Rarely have longer-running polls found such a rate since the even gloomier days of 1992 ahead of the first President Bush's re-election loss to Democrat Bill Clinton.

The current glumness is widely blamed on public discontent with the war in Iraq and with President Bush.

Nine percent faulted the economy, 8 percent a loss of moral values and 5 percent gasoline prices.
