Time to Destroy Fox News

I'm not telling you what you should do... I suspect most moderates and liberals already avoid Fox. No, I'm telling the Democrats what THEY should do. The reason Fox has the ratings they have, besides the fact that there are a lot of incredibly ignorant people in this country, is that they've had the news makers, the people in power, on their screens for the last six years. That network never challenged anything Republicans did. Not once. They fostered the incompetence of Republican leadership by giving them free access to their base. Are we better off as a nation for their efforts?

In my opinion, Democrats should resist their natural desire to defend themselves on Fox. They ought to let that network preach to the choir and rather appear only on news programs that truly are fair and balanced. Fox isn't swaying anyone in the middle anymore. The only possible result of going on Fox is to allow yourself to be brought down to their level. Fighting it out in the mud just gets everyone dirty. I think the one thing this election clearly showed, for the most part, is that the American People are tired of the demonizing done by the Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh school of political commentary. For the last 6 years those folks have done nothing but mock everything any Democrat said or did. Was that constructive?

Now that Democrats are in power they should let Fox starve. If one of the talking heads on Fox says something provocative to try to get a response, the Democrats should respond by shrugging and saying "That's Fox." They shouldn't show any respect for them and we'll find out if that network can survive with only no-names appearing week in and week out.

In the end, when this chapter is written into the history books, Fox News will be thought of as Bush's Joseph Goebbels. Democrats should want no part of being associated with the present day Propaganda Ministry.
