Since our invasion to remove him from power and take away his imaginary WMD, a new estimate suggests 655,000 Iraqis have died because of the conflict. 655,000! I find the number impossible to believe but even if it's wrong by a substantial amount, what does this mean?
Aren't the Iraqi people now, to a certain extent, "our people"? Remember Colin Powell saying "if you break it, you own it"? We own those folks. And we haven't been very good caretakers, have we?
That doesn't take into account the deaths of US soldiers. All the wounded. All this death and destruction... For nothing. If this goes on for a few more years, before we remove George W. Bush from power, his decisions and incompetence may have directly resulted in the deaths of over 1 million people. Is this what America stands for? Is this what we want from our leaders?
