Boycott Bush

I'm not sure this even requires an organized effort. I suspect most people have tuned him out and his address on Monday night will be watched by very few. That smirk on his face, no matter what the subject, makes it impossible to watch this smug, ignorant prick.

If you're not aware, the President is giving a nationally televised speech on Monday night about how he's now planning to deploy the National Guard to the Mexican border. Well, a few thoughts...

  • If this is the right thing to do, why did it take you nearly 5 years from 9/11 to do it?
  • Where are the troops coming from? Aren't our armed forces already stretched thin?
  • If the intent is to close the border, who's going to do the work those people are doing now?
  • How long is the border with Mexico? How many troops?
  • How much will this cost the taxpayers? Not just in terms of the deployment costs but in terms of the cost of grapes and other products.
  • What will this do to our relations with the Mexican government and people?
  • Don't we first deserve a nationally televised speech on the NSA Spy Program or Iraq? How about the other 35 scandals swirling around the Whitehouse? Nope, let's talk about the Mexicans first because that's our #1 problem!

This is a stunt, folks. He'll do his speech, deploy 1,000 bodies to the border and ultimately, when the heat is turned off this issue in a month or two, he'll move those troops elsewhere. It's so obvious he's once again just looking for a sound bite that can maybe get him a little traction and improve his poll numbers. He isn't serious about border security. If he was serious about security in general, more than 5% of the containers coming into the country would be inspected. If he were serious, this wouldn't have taken 5 years and poll numbers in the 20's to get some attention.

I say don't bother watching. He's no longer worthy of our respect or trust.
