Playing the Clinton Card

"all of this bullshit is just a repeat of what the Republicans pulled on Clinton"
As far as I'm concerned, he's equating two things that simply aren't equitable. To suggest the fix Bush finds himself in is similar to the Republican sliming of Clinton is to suggest the two are proportionate. They aren't. While Clinton certainly opened the door for the Republicans to nail him, and he was responsible for his own demise to a certain extent, you're not allowing the same to be said about Bush. He's not taken responsibility for anything he's ever done and while Clinton had a Republican congress to slam him, Bush has had a rubber-stamping bunch of cheerleaders his entire time in office.I won't go into the laundry list now but think about this for a minute... If Clinton had Bush's exact same 5 year record at this point, this Republican Congress would have impeached him again and, most likely, they'd have been successful this time. And I'd be 100% behind them if they did. What this man has done to the country is unconscionable.
Bush doesn't find himself in this position due to anything the Democrats have done. Nor is the media to blame. He's in trouble because of his own actions, decisions he's made, serious mistakes in judgment. Joe Biden was on Bill Maher last night and he said Bush makes decisions based on his flawed gut instinct and then prays he's right. Is that a good way to run the Presidency?
The country is embarrassed to have him representing us. Really embarrassed.
By the way, the Republican slime machine still exists. It's now a defense mechanism rather than an offensive weapon. See, they've succeeded in convincing intelligent people like my friend that Bush's failures are all somebody else's fault. They've done that by sliming the messenger over and over again whenever there's a snippet of truth released. Read the archives of this blog for dozens of examples. Dozens and Dozens!
No, the Democrats are doing what they're supposed to do. They're opposing a President who desperately needs opposition. They're doing so with no legitimate power in any branch of government. That's a far cry from what the Republicans did when Clinton was in office. And it's long past time when Republican apologists should be allowed to continue to play the Clinton card. Good people on the right side of the aisle, intelligent folks like my friend, need to stop making excuses.
