What a Joke

I went to vote in the Illinois primary this morning. Of course, the touch screen wasn't working. Anyway, as I was checking the boxes it occurred to me that I was wasting my time. I know this is a cynical point of view and maybe it's just the damn bad mood I'm in but as I looked at the names I just knew that no matter who got elected, it would all be the same. I mean, who runs for office anyway? Who puts themselves through this crap? All of the ads I've been seeing for months have painted "the other guy" as a complete piece of shit. Would good people go through this? And if they did, would the process itself corrupt them?
