Was I Out of Line?
My last post slammed people from Red States. I certainly know and understand that there are many intelligent people in Red State America. But I don't really care. See, the issue is deeper than that. It seems to me that the real problem the Democrats face is that southern Democrats can't seem to get motivated to get to the polls for any candidate with an address north of the Mason-Dixon line. It seems to be that the intelligent voices in Red State America allow themselves to be shouted down, to be drowned out by the right-wing nuts who sit in the cubicles next to them with posters of Bush and statues of Jesus everywhere. When you hear about peace rallies or folks stepping up to the plate and calling Bush out for his incompetence, you never hear those words being spoken with a southern accent (except, of course, in New Orleans, and that literally took a Biblical Act of God to come about.)
The moderates and liberals in Red State America need to grow some balls. I understand the good ol' boys down there like to drag people who don't agree with them or look like them around by their ankles chained behind pickup trucks but those good ol' boys ain't going to respect anyone who doesn't speak up when there's something obviously wrong going on. Grow a pair and come back to the table when you're ready to fight the good fight.
Until then, get used to guys like me lumping you together with the NASCAR knuckle-dragging Neanderthals you allow to represent and speak for you.
