Poison for the Kids
If you have kids getting vaccines, see this article. I've a close friend who has an autistic child. He's convinced that the autism was caused by mercury in vaccines. Having done a little reading on the subject myself (nothing compared to him) I agree this is clearly a problem that needs to be addressed.
And the reason mercury is in our kid's medicines... Money. The preservative (thimerosal) that causes brain damage also helps keep vaccines stabile for longer, increasing the shelf life. So, we're tossing a few kids under the bus in the name of drug company profits. Sad but true.

Help me out. I don't get it. Wouldn't drug companies prefer the vaccines to go bad so more of them have to be purchased?
That's like asking: Why does General Mills put preservatives in our cereal?
Ever read the label on Wonder Bread?
Longer shelf life means they get the same sales with less spoilage. Less spoilage means higher profits.
It also allows certain drugs that otherwise would need to be refrigerated during transport to be shipped without cooling. This makes it cheaper.
The upside is, the drug companies would argue, that the drugs can make it to places they otherwise wouldn't be able to go.
However, there is clearly science that shows the concerns of parents of autistic children have a case. The graphs showing the introduction of this preservative into childhood vaccines and the growth of childhood autism are identical.
So, for the sake of our kids, why take the risk? Get it out of our drug supply and only put it into those drugs that absolutely need the preservative to survive the journey. Drugs transported to third world countries, for example. And I'm not saying those kids are of less value than ours of protection, but the alternative is, sometimes, not getting the drugs they need at all. If you have a choice between those, some would argue the vaccines aren't necessary. I'm not convinced of that position either.
By the way, neither party is addressing this adequately. They both have their hands in drug company pockets. Kennedy isn't making this a political issue. I believe he really has the best interests of our children at heart.
I just always thought an expiration date on something like ibuprofren was a drug company ruse to force consumers to throw out perfectly good medicine. You are coming at this from a different angle. This is a highly interesting topic to me because my college roommate has a severely autistic son. He sure seemed OK until he got vaccinated. He just had to have brain surgery to relieve his seizures. You'll get no argument from me on this one - I am absolutely petrified every time one of my kids gets a shot for something.
When you talk about the expiration dates on certain drugs, you likely have a point. But in this case that'd be mixing apples and oranges. Vaccines are organic and must be preserved. This is done via various methods and the two we've discussed here are refrigeration and chemical. One costs more but doesn't introduce mercury into a child's bloodstream.
As to being petrified when your kids get a shot, don't be. You've been educated on the dangers of this preservative and it's likely your doctors are well aware. Your doctors will buy mercury-free versions of the drugs because you as a consumer will demand it. That education comes from the experiences our friends have had and the tragedies they've suffered with their once healthy children. It comes from the efforts of good men like Kennedy who are willing to stand up and be counted.
And in America, I believe our government has the responsibility to protect everyone's kids when the evidence suggests the risks here warrant their involvement.
