Myths

  • By increasing the deficit more than any President in history, Bush busted the myth that Republican leadership is fiscally responsible. He did so with his party completely in control of the government. He did so after he inherited a government running a surplus.
  • Bush busted the myth that America is a champion of human rights. His vigorous support of torture and his flouting of international law (The Geneva Convention) has destroyed our ability to speak on this subject with moral authority for generations to come.
  • Bush busted the myth that America is the land of the free. Our phones have been tapped without warrant and he's appointed right wing justices he expects to further curtail the freedoms Americans have come to take for granted.
  • Bush busted the myth that intelligence officers are above being attacked for political gain when his people leaked the name of a covert CIA agent during wartime. This was formerly known as treason.
  • The myth that there's a true separation of church and state has been busted time and again by laws Bush has passed and priorities Bush has given religion in budgetary matters.
  • Bush has busted the myth that the United States can lead the world in anything as important as reversing the causes of global warming.
  • By standing steadfast and nearly alone against stemcell research, Bush has busted the very essence of the meaning of the word compassionate. By silencing scientists at NASA he's shown utter contempt for the age of enlightenment we once lived in.

So, why is the logo for this post GOP Busters? Because the more I see John McCain kissing right wing ass, the more I realize there isn't such a thing as a moderate anymore. Sure, they may honestly be in the middle but by electing even moderate Republicans the country empowers the fringe right. Between now and November we'll see lots of Republican lawmakers getting comfortable in the soft middle but when you're in the voting booth, I ask you to remember the rubber-stamp congress of the last 6 years and where it's led us.

Are the Democrats the great saviors of this country and all that we've held dear for the last 200 years? Maybe not. But we better pray they get the chance to prove it one way or another. We simply can't take another 3 years of Bush unleashed. He's busted enough.
