Is Lying an Art Form?

If so, this GOP'er isn't exactly Vincent Van Gogh...

On his campaign web site Howard Kaloogian said this about a picture of downtown Baghdad he had taken during his visit there:
“Iraq (including Baghdad) is much more calm and stable than what many people believe it to be. But, each day the news media finds any violence occurring in the country and screams and shouts about it - in part because many journalists are opposed to the U.S. effort to fight terrorism."
The problem, the photo wasn't of Baghdad at all. Close? Well, only if the next country to the north counts. The photo was actually taken in a suburb of Istanbul, Turkey. More of this hilarious story here.

UPDATE: The web site has been changed and the new photo he has posted is so distant you couldn't tell if a civil war was going on or not. I love it when these idiots get badly busted and then claim it was all a big clerical mistake.

Here are the photos. First is the original fake he had posted, next is a photo of the Istanbul suburb mentioned above and then the new photo taken from... hell, I don't know. Could be Baghdad somewhere off in the distance I suppose. Hey Kaloogian, maybe try a satellite photo next time and save yourself the trip.
