What Would it Take?

What would Bush have to do to lose the support of those 34%?

  • Go to war under false pretenses? Nope.
  • Forget to plan for the post-war? Nope.
  • Get thousands of our guys killed because he cherry-picked the intelligence? Nope.
  • Stare a civil war in the face and say everything is groovy? Nope.
  • Blow off the Constitution and the FISA courts/law to spy on Americans? Nope.
  • Not catch Bin Laden? Nope.
  • Deficit spend at record levels? Nope.
  • Take a pass on a major catastrophe for 48 hours while the people there died? Nope.
  • Rubber stamp the ports deal giving the port of NYC (among others) to a company run by a country that supported the 9/11 terrorists? Nope.
  • Trash a moderate to conservative Democrat (and war hero) named John Murtha in the name of politics? Nope.
  • Sell out a covert agent of the CIA during wartime to punish her husband FOR BEING RIGHT? Nope.
  • Torture. Nope.
I’ll tell you what he could do to lose those 34%: He could pick a Supreme Court justice that supports choice. We saw that one in full force a few months ago. Meanwhile, even though true conservatives (fiscal conservatives) are joining liberals and moderates in realizing Bush is a friggen train wreck; there are still those that enable him.

Please read this list of Republican scandals and you be the judge. I have my own opinion. Personally, I hope these power-drunk assholes get tossed out of office so we have a true check and balance back in government. Curious King George needs a new keeper.

Thanks to my buddy Lance for pissing me off and inspiring this tirade.

I stand by my comments in our earlier discussion where I tried to say that polls have some use but the results are often manipulated by both sides. I agree that Bush has made a lot of mistakes. However, I'm pretty confident that I could put together a similar list of failures for the most recent past presidents, especially when Clinton is such a fresh memory. I agree that having different parties is better and I think there will be some movement in that direction with the upcoming election.

The only Presidential mistakes in modern history that rise anywhere near the level of those in the last 5 years, in my opinion, would relate to Johnson and his decisions on Vietnam and/or Nixon and his decisions related to Watergate.

With Bush, you get the "best" of both worlds, it seems.

As to Clinton, I wish Bush were 10% as smart as Bill's penis.
