He Really is Nuts!
So W and his team have signed off on a deal that turns over the management of 6 ports in the US to a Middle Eastern state owned company. The logic goes that it's really the Coast Guard and US Customs that provides security so who actually owns the company providing the management is irrelevant.
Now you could argue this either way. I'd certainly err on the side of caution. But, whatever, should we give Bush the benefit of the doubt?
Today Republicans and Democrats came together and said they'd pass legislation to delay and possibly kill this deal. Bush has threatened a veto. He says his team has looked at it and that's good enough for government work.
After all of the things he and his folks have screwed up, all the congress is doing is asking for time to take a look at this deal. You know, DOING THEIR JOBS. But arrogant King George has already put out the "I'll veto it" statement.
That's why I say he's lost it. He doesn't even try to play politics anymore. He's simply right and everyone else be damned.
I think we need a different President. Sanity is important in a leader.
PS. Americablog has some nice posts on this subject. They believe the Bush Administration has a vested monetary interest in the deal. I don't know if they're right or wrong about Bush selling the security of our country to the highest bidder but I do recommend you click the link over on the right of the screen and give them a read. By the way, the New York Daily News seems to agree.
