Al Gore on Domestic Spying

Wow! I recommend you read the entire speech here but I thought I'd pass along this gem.
Last week, for example, Vice President Cheney attempted to defend the Administration's eavesdropping on American citizens by saying that if it had conducted this program prior to 9/11, they would have found out the names of some of the hijackers.

Tragically, he apparently still doesn't know that the Administration did in fact have the names of at least 2 of the hijackers well before 9/11 and had available to them information that could have easily led to the identification of most of the other hijackers. And yet, because of incompetence in the handling of this information, it was never used to protect the American people.

The entire speech is outstanding and talks about how Americans (Republicans and Democrats) need to stand up and demand our President simply stop breaking the law. The Republicans have responded with a political slam (kill the messenger) as that seems the only way they can react these days. The Republican leadership is pathetic. Sorry, they are.

The point is being made, loud and clear, that the President isn't above the law, no matter what Cheney and Bush think. Great men like Al Gore need to stand up and be counted or our democracy is in danger. I'm glad to see him put the hammer down today.
