Monday Morning QB

I've been accused of being a "Monday Morning Quarterback" for changing my position on this war. The logic goes that I once supported the reasons for going to war, just like the President, and now that the intelligence has proven faulty, it's unfair to blame the President.

Balderdash!

First off, I've consistently provided numerous links to stories providing clear evidence that the administration knowingly lied about every aspect of the war; going to the extreme of actually feeding lies to a willing reporter at the New York Times! I won't bother rehashing those lies in detail in this post but I welcome you to click a few of my previous posts for the scoop. It's all there.

Secondly, it's soooooo obvious there's a pattern here you'd have to be a blind Republican partisan to miss it. Each and every time a legitimate criticism is leveled against this administration, they smear the source. Whether you believe Joe Wilson or Richard Clarke are good people becomes the issue rather than what they're saying. Time and time again this is the machinery the Administration sets in motion. Former allies like John Murtha are thrown under the bus, called unpatriotic, when they merely suggest a change in tactics ought to be considered given the facts on the ground. No, no, no Jack... you're now a liberal pussy!

But then a few days later we find that the Administration is, in fact, considering plans to withdraw our troops in time for the mid-term elections. So I have to ask, why the smearing of Murtha? Why was it necessary if the Administration effectively agreed with him? Simple: This is all these guys know how to do. Bill Clinton was often accused of "stealing" the ideas of Republicans and making them his own. It drove Newt Gingrich crazy! Bush came into office saying he was a uniter but I've seen no evidence to support that claim in five years.

Give me Jack Kemp any day! I'd take him in a heartbeat over these thieves who've co-opted the Republican Party. Who are these guys?
  • These folks that claim to be conservatives but are anything but conservative.
  • These people who do evil in the name of Jesus. Think about this, how could Satan be most effective? I don't believe many would knowingly do the devil's bidding but if the devil convinced you he was Jesus... PRAISE THE LORD! But the fact remains, Jesus was the ultimate liberal.
  • These leaders who came into power as being the CEO Administration but who've appointed incompetent cronies to head important departments while they've ignored the important findings and solid recommendations of the 9/11 commission to this day!
  • This President who spoke out against nation building as a candidate in 2000...

No, I believe this pattern and the pile of evidence of lies and cover-ups would cause any intelligent human being to change their mind. I've changed mine for good reason and name calling isn't going to be sufficient this time. The right wing is painted into a corner and that's the only weapon they have remaining. I understand that but couldn't care less. If it appeared there was a slightest chance we might actually make progress there and install a government not ideologically aligned with Iran, I might think the sacrifice was worth the cost, money and blood. But the facts suggest we're throwing our kids into this mess for political reasons and the original justifications have all gone up in smoke. I therefore see no benefit in continuing to feed this monster.

It isn't Monday morning, we're still in the game folks. It may be wise to make a few adjustments at halftime.
