The Iraq Decision

Over the past few years, we've learned:

  • Bush entered office with the invasion of Iraq in mind
  • Immediately after the 9/11 attack, Bush directed his team to use the tragedy as an excuse to put his Iraq plan into motion
  • He used the war and every aspect of it to further his political designs (recall the Mission Accomplished banner and the aircraft carrier flight stunt as one example)
  • When challenged on facts, the administration formed an attack group and destroyed anyone in their way (now under investigation with indictments due this week)
  • 9/11 may have been preventable in the first place and a massive cover-up has taken place since.

We now have one of the final pieces of the puzzle. The decision on the timing of when to go to war was based on politics.

  • Not military strategy;
  • Not the needs of our guys (who STILL don't have the body armor they require);
  • Not pressing evidence of the threatened mushroom cloud

Politics. See the compelling article here. We now have nearly 2,000 dead young men and women because Bush needed votes. What kind of sick, evil bastards are running this nation?
