New Photo Scandal?
Americablog has several articles on a nasty bit of news that some of our boys in Iraq have been trading photos of dead Iraqis for free access to a porn site. Well...
- We're at war so there will be dead enemy combatants
- Our guys have cameras
- Our guys like porn (red blooded Americans, after all)
In one of the articles, Americablog asks the difference between the Lynndie England posed photos and the ones on this site and then says "Other than the victims are dead." Well, yeah, that's the damn difference! And they are hardly "victims" but rather dead enemies. Big difference guys!
Listen, I know I'm a little nothing compared to the folks at Americablog and I usually enjoy and agree with most of the stuff they put out there. But this isn't one of those times. This is one where the left hands the right a caveman sized club on a silver platter and asks to be flogged with it. The "blame America first" label will be firmly slapped on this one the way it's being reported thus far on Americablog.
There's lots of horror in war and frankly, while I agree a porn site isn't the right place for this, I'm very glad the ugliness is being shown somewhere. Maybe if the American people are subjected to more of these photos they'll understand what the hell we're in the middle of over there. Maybe they'll stand up and demand it be stopped!
To be sure, this will be another black eye for the US in our efforts to convince the Muslim world we're not a bunch of immoral scum over here. Photos like these deserve to be published in a more legitimate place and I suspect the mainstream media will publish a number of the photos now that this is coming to light. Hopefully, if that happens, some good can come of this. I suppose that's what Americablog intends.
