The Moral Majority Crowd

Something I've always found interesting about these guys; they seem to see God's hand in actions that support their agenda but overlook the possibility of his involvement in those that don't. Case in point: the recent hurricanes. Some of the right-wingers were saying New Orleans was being punished for their immoral ways. But can't it also be said that Katrina also punished a Red State? Heck, Rita took aim at Texas! If recent events suggest God is trying to tell us something, what should we make of the fact that he's dealt a serious blow to the oil industry along the coast? Does the Moral Majority crowd see God acting to keep Bush partying on vacation while New Orleans and half of Mississippi were devastated? God would have known that this would result in the complete derailing of W's Presidency, no?

I don't know. I simply don't believe God gets involved in the politics of the day. Regardless, I'd still like to hear the hypocrites of the Christian Coalition explain a few things. If they can pray for the assassination of dictators, I think they owe us a little analysis on why it is that Bush is the "dictator" most feared by the intelligent governments of the planet. If they openly petition the Lord for deaths of liberals on the Supreme Court, what should be made of the fact that Rehnquist was the one God called home? Could it be that God doesn't see things their way?

I'm just asking.
