Damn Democrats have NO BALLS

I'm sick of the pathetic Democrats having no opinion on anything. Frankly, let's be honest, their job is to be the party of loyal opposition and that's a really easy job these days. Everything is going wrong and the guy in charge is smirking his way to 30% approval ratings. The Dems seem to be satisfied sitting back and watching. THAT ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH! The first job of government is to defend our citizens and protect them when calamity strikes. The entire government has failed miserably in New Orleans and there isn't anyone giving those folks a voice. I can tell you this for a fact, the Democrats aren't getting a dime from me until they grow a pair and start having a purpose. At this point they look like an evil, corrupt group of incompetents without power (about the only difference between them and the Republicans these days.)

The situation in New Orleans has made it very clear that the great divide in this country isn't just about race, politics or money. It's about intelligence. The folks in power are simply the dumbest bastards we could have put there. Each and every one of these guys needs to take a healthy drink from the reality trough this next election when we toss a whole bunch of these folks out on their asses. Both parties suck.

I blame Reagan for making it popular to demonize the word "liberal." Where would we be if true liberals had had a voice for the last 25 years? Would 50% of the children in New Orleans live in poverty? Would environmentalists who've been pointing out the issues with the levee system in the coastal regions recently hit by Katrina have been able to convince the politicians to spend money wisely had they not been marginalized as tree-huggers? Would the people who stood up against this costly and impossible war, including the then Secretary of State, have had the political backing of a strong and vocal portion of government if they hadn't been mocked into being mousy and inarticulate? Would SOMEBODY out there be pointing out the unbelievable hypocrisy of the right wing's Pro-Life stance in the face of their leader letting people die by the thousands while he dawdled at fund raisers for a week while on vacation? Would someone at least wonder out loud why Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice shopped for several thousand dollars of shoes and attended a Monty Python play, Spamalot in Manhattan as New Orleans drowned? Let them eat cake, indeed.

Maybe this is the nature of government. Maybe it's always been and always will be this way. I believe we can do better. We simply must.
